District Announcement:
The Board is pleased to announce the selection of Steve Leavenworth as the Principal of LaVerkin Elementary School. Steve will replace Nadine Hancey who transferred to Santa Clara Elementary School.
Steve was born and raised outside of Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Sam Barlow High School in 1995. He then attended BYU for a year, after which he went on a 2-year mission for the LDS Church in Leipzig, Germany. He then went back to BYU and started the Elementary Education Program. While at BYU, he met his wife, Sabrina, who was also attending BYU. Together they have lived in Provo, Heber City, Brigham City, Tremonton, and LaVerkin, Utah. Steve had the opportunity to do an internship at Midway Elementary teaching 3rd grade. He then taught 4th grade for 2 years at Century Elementary in Bear River City, Utah. In the summer of 2004 he moved his family to Southern Utah and taught 4th grade at Bloomington Hills Elementary for a year. After a year, he had the opportunity to transfer to LaVerkin Elementary to teach 5th grade, which he has been doing for the last 4 years. He will finish his M.ED. in Education Administration this summer.
Steve has 3 kids: Josh is 6 and will be starting 1st grade this fall. Kaylee is 4, and Stacia will be turning 2 in August. Steve enjoys outside activities, sports, reading, serving others, and being with his family. He is excited to be given the opportunity to continue to work with the faculty, staff and community at LaVerkin Elementary School.
